Opening November 23rd for submissions
Rianne Pictures is offering free feedback on 30 short film scripts as part of its initiative RIANNE READS. Writers will receive one page of actionable feedback from the Rianne Pictures Development Team, who have a wide range of experience and skillsets from the film and TV industry, including leading the Women X Film Festival script competition.
This opportunity is open to all women and gender non-conforming film writers with a short film script of 15 pages or less, which does not have a producer attached and has not been previously produced. This is a totally free opportunity with no hidden costs, as Rianne Pictures' way of giving back to our community - previously this has led to some really exciting projects moving into production, including Goodbye Train which screened at the Women X Film Festival this year!

We accept entries from co-writers, up to 2 people, as long as one of them adheres to the above first rule.

Short film scripts only.
All genres and stories are welcomed
Maximum of 15 pages.
We also have reserved 15% of spaces for North East based writers as part of our mission to enhance opportunities in the area, just add this to your application along with your postcode.
Only one script entry per writer.
We do not accept feature scripts, plays, sketches or works from writing groups/collectives of more than 2 people.
How to submit
Submissions will open on 23rd November and close on 30th November.
A lottery system will be used to randomly select writers to receive feedback, with 5 places reserved for writers from the North East of England (where Rianne Pictures is based). If selected, writers will receive their feedback in mid-January 2025. All entrants will be notified if their place was successful by mid-January 2025.
All scripts will be safe and confidential and not shared outside of the competition.
Writers will need to complete a google form which includes questions for Equal Opportunities, as well as send their script to our development team via email. These will both become available from when submissions open.
